The Chairman of Governors and I wrote to you earlier this year to tell you that, following Peter Armstrong's announcement of his retirement, we were actively seeking to appoint a successor. I am pleased to inform you that I have appointed Gino Carminati to be Headmaster of Worth from 1st September 2007. Mr Carminati is aged 46 and is currently Headmaster of Kent College Canterbury, an independent boarding and day school in the Methodist tradition. Mr Carminati is himself a Catholic, married to Anne and they have two children, aged 11 and 14.

Anne and Gino Carminati
Mr Carminati brings an unusual breadth of relevant experience to Worth. He has worked in both boys schools and coeducational schools, where he has taught history, been a boarding housemaster and a deputy headmaster. In 1997, he became Headmaster of Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School in Kent which he led successfully until his appointment as Head of Kent College in 2002. He has now completed an impressive development plan there and we are delighted that he wishes to join us in 2007.
At my suggestion, Mr Carminati will take a sabbatical in the summer term 2007 which will be an opportunity for him to study the Benedictine tradition of education and to visit some of our order's schools at home and abroad.
During the coming year, there will be an opportunity for you to meet Mr and Mrs Carminati. I hope that you enjoy meeting them as much as the members of the governing body and the monastic community have done.
