Worth was well represented at the consecration of the newly restored R.C. chapel of Christ the King at Sandhurst by Cardinal Cormac on Monday 29th November. Two of the generals present had been in the school, Arthur Denaro in the prep and Tim Tyler in the senior school; the architect Stephanie Webster is the wife of OWB Sinclair; the artist commissioned to paint the "fifteenth station" is Luke Elwes, and what an inspiring work he has produced; the organiser of the chapel appeal is OWB Lt Col Francis Hobbs; and Officer Cadet James Crookenden was in attendance.

Tim Tyler (C 71) and wife Jo
There were about two hundred of us gathered for the mass of consecration in the "Upper Room", a space of beauty and clever design with tiered seating on three sides of a large central altar with a freestanding font between the altar and the entrance. "It is hoped that the chapel will enable officers, cadets, staff and families of the Academy to find a place of spiritual calm and an oasis open to all faiths and none". Sandhurst is fortunate to have acquired such an oasis.
It was good to mingle with the Worth contingent afterwards, at the reception followed by an excellent lunch.
The appeal still has ground to cover. If you would like to support the work done in the chapel please click on this link to the appeal website.

Fr Kevin in good company
