On 30th April 2003, Andrew Boys (Rutherford 1964) stepped down from his post as Chairman of Worth Old Boys’ Society Committee and handed the reigns to Nick Butterworth (Gervase 1976), who accepted the post from the Patron of WOBS, Abbot Christopher.
All Old Boys have a great deal to thank Andrew for. Over the past 3 years he has built on the work of Keith Owers and Liz Blake to create a vibrant and active Society. During his Chairmanship we have seen the launch of: WOBS as a charity, the Voluntary Services Award, the website, the Bruised Reeds initiative, an annual Mass to celebrate St Benedict’s Day, and the annual Old Boys’ careers event.
In this time WOBS has also supported new ventures, such as the Worth Old Boys’ sailing team and a production by the Old Boys’ theatre company, Epiphany. All of this serves to complement the well-established active Old Boys’ sports clubs of rugby, golf, and cricket. The variety and style of Old Boys’ social events during Andrew’s time, such as the Millenium ball, the WOBS City lunch, and various pub gatherings shows how Andrew has tried to provide suitable opportunities for all Old Boys to meet up with each other.

Although Andrew is stepping down as Chairman he will continue his interest in WOBS and its future and looks forward to meeting more of you at future WOBS events.
Nick has a hard act to follow, but as an Old Boy of Worth and as the father of a current Worth boy, he is keen to see WOBS grow and develop.
