Jamie Vassallo to run London Marathon

Jamie Vassallo, London Marathon 2003 runner
Jamie Vassallo,
London Marathon 2003 runner

One of my ambitions was to run in the London Marathon at the age of 18, trying to be one of the youngest to compete. This year, I was accepted as a charity runner for Spinal Research. In return for a guaranteed place in the Marathon, I have to raise a minimum of £1000 in sponsorship, money which will go to developing and improving the life of those who have had spinal injuries.

There were a few reasons why I chose this charity, firstly because this time last year, I had an injury to the spine and was only able to start running again in September. And secondly, as someone who wishes to study medicine at university, I was fascinated in reading what Spinal Research aims to achieve, regenerating & repairing the spinal cord.

Come Marathon day, Sunday 13th April, I will be one of the youngest runners, having only turned eighteen two months before. My aim is to complete the run in around 3 hours, which itself will be a challenge. Over the next three months I will be training hard to try and achieve this goal.

I would very much welcome your support and sponsorship, if you would like to sponsor me, please could you make cheques payable to Spinal Research and send them to me at the address below. If you happen to be in or around London on the day, then your support would be very much appreciated.

Thank you very much for all your help,

Jamie Vassallo
