Dear Worth Old Boy,
BBC TV’s ‘The Monastery’
As you may know, Tiger Aspect Productions recently made a TV series at Worth which is to be broadcast on BBC2 in May. I am writing to you to give some details of the transmission and of the programme.
The transmission details are:
BBC2 9.00-10.00 pm, Tuesdays May 10th, 17th and 24th.
The programmes describe how five men who had little or no knowledge of the Catholic Church or monastic life, spend 40 days learning to live as monks. The outcome is an encounter between modern life and Benedictine life which presents Worth and the Church in a wholly positive light.
The BBC has made preview tapes available to the press and articles will start appearing in national newspapers from the end of April onwards. All those who have seen the preview were struck not only by the technical quality but also by the spiritual depth of the programmes.
The monastic community has seen all the programmes and we are very happy with them. We hope that you too will enjoy them and that, through the programmes, God will touch the lives of many people.
Yours sincerely,
Abbot Christopher
