CAREERS FOCUS AT WORTH - 26th April, 2006
This is a new initiative which builds on the success of the WOBS careers events which I have run for over five years.
The idea is to link with the Friends of Worth to provide speakers for a much bigger event involving all the boys in years 11, 12 and 13 (5th form, lower VI and upper VI in old money!).
Various rooms in the school will be used and the boys will be required to pre-select talks they wish to attend, in advance of the day. Each speaker would be required to talk for about 10 minutes, followed by a second speaker on a similar or related career followed by 10 minutes of questioning making a half-hour session in all.
Boys would be required to attend three sessions in all so each speaker would present his talk three times.
Needless to say I need volunteer speakers. At this stage I would just love to hear from you as an expression of interest julian.gairdner@rbi.co.uk. Why not contact me right now?
Clearly it means giving up the afternoon of the 26th April, but as a sweetener it's intended to kick off with a buffet lunch for the speakers and the boys at around 1pm and will conclude with a cup of tea/ sandwiches and a tour of the school for the speakers - if you havent been back in the past few years, much has changed!
Over the years I have had a tremendous response/support from old boys volunteering to speak at the careers event, so please do get in touch. It's a really worthwhile thing to do and I can guarantee you an audience as the school has agreed to ring-fence this time for years 11, 12, and 13 to make it compulsory for them to attend.
I look forward to hearing from you.
