Following an Abbatial Election on Wednesday 2nd June 2010, Father Kevin Taggart has been elected Abbot of Worth with immediate effect. An Abbatial Election is held every eight years during a process that lasts two days. Sustained by prayer and under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the Monks of Worth elected Father Kevin to the demanding role of leading them into the future.
As Abbot of Worth, Father Kevin will also be President of the Board of Governors of the School. He will be fully involved in sustaining both the quality and the values of Worth School. In particular, he will oversee the principal policies that express those values in practice.
Abbot Kevin has played a central part in the development of Worth School. He was the first House Master when the School began its transformation to being a senior School, and he has been Head Master and Bursar. He is a member of the Governing Body and has been involved in all the major decisions contributing to the continued growth and development of the School. This includes the significant commitment to buildings and resources from the Monastic Community to fully implement the co-education plan. Father Kevin's extensive knowledge and experience, not just of Worth but education in general, will continue to be a tremendous asset.
Fr Kevin takes over from Abbot Christopher who has served Worth generously as Abbot for the last eight years.
